Long days. Late nights. Constant work.
That's how it's done.
Black Mast exists in that space—the part most people don't see. The focus, the pressure, the time it takes to get better and stay there.
About the Shop
Black Mast opened its doors in April of 2025—but it didn’t start there. It started with long days, late nights, and a clear idea of what a tattoo shop should feel like.
Owner and artist Chris Wodarski, alongside resident artist J. Carney, built it from the ground up. What came out of that is a space shaped by real work, real time put in, and a shared standard that carries through everything done here.
The shop is home to five artists—Chris Wodarski, J. Carney, Chad Zentgraf, Tara Farkas, and Tay Zay—each bringing their own style, experience, and approach to the craft. Together, they’ve created something that goes beyond just a place to work.
There’s a real sense of a home away from home here. Every client that walks through the door is treated with the same respect as the artists themselves. Everyone is on the same level at Black Mast—no egos, no hierarchy, just people who care about what they’re doing and who they’re doing it for.
This isn’t about turning artists into brands. Everyone here is human first—real artists with real struggles, showing up every day and putting everything they have into their work.
You can see the growth week by week—in every artist, in every tattoo, and in the shop as a whole. It’s constant, and it’s real.
Black Mast isn’t about shortcuts or surface-level work. It’s about consistency, respect, and the drive to keep getting better—no matter how long the day gets.
