J. Carney

J. Carney started his apprenticeship in 2002 and has been tattooing professionally since 2003. Coming from the old-school side of tattooing, he learned the craft in a different era — from soldering needles by hand to learning through real shop experience long before modern tattoo supply companies shaped the industry.

While he enjoys tattooing a wide range of styles, he finds himself especially drawn to new school work and the creativity that comes with it. He also has a real passion for coverups, especially changing the way people think a coverup has to look. For him, it's more than hiding old work — it's about rebuilding confidence and creating something clients are proud to wear.

His favorite part of tattooing is being able to crawl into the minds of his clients and turn their ideas, memories, and imagination into something permanent. Every project is approached with creativity, honesty, and a genuine passion for the art form.

Decades into the craft, that passion still drives him every day.
